So, this isn't exactly a post about printing problems or issues, more a post that will hopefully result in me avoiding having issues and problems:)
All my startup kit is arriving over the next day or so.
Now, from what I understand, it's not as simple as just plugging in your new Ricoh printer, run the CD that comes with it, and away you go, as you would would a £40 HP home inkjet. Something about profiles and CISS and power drivers? Am lost.
I'm concerned too that I might have a problem as I don't use any of the fancy software like Corel or Illustrator or Photoshop. The design work I do relies on an ancient version of Paint Shop Pro from the 90s, and AutoCAD 2007 - neither of which I'm an expert with.
Ever since mentioning I was going to give sublimation a go, I've had people banging on my inbox asking when they can start requesting stuff. Great position to be in from a business sense, but frustrating and poor service if it turns out I don't have all I need to get started.
So I'm just after a really simple explanation or reassurance about what I need to do when my Ricoh turns up tomorrow please anyone.

The Ricoh isnt too much of a problem - follow the intructions and you will be fine. Just be prepared for some mistakes and wastage while you learn. Nobody gets anything right from minute one. This forum will help you if you get stuck - search first for topics or the "Have you searched" Police appear. It can be very satisfying and it can be very frustrating but thank your lucky starts you didnt buy a Bulk Ink setup, that would have tested you!!

Oh I've tried the search button, believe me I've tried. Had to read through an absolute ton of threads that weren't relevant and I was beginning to lose the will to live, though I did spot a single line in one post form BMS saying that if you have a Ricoh then it doesn't matter what software you use. Hopefully I read that right and I'm not going to be tearing out what little hair I have left upon discovering that I actually need to spend a couple hundred more quid on a certain piece of software.

When most of the people who have answered questions on here started out, there was no forum like this and no one to answer their questions for them. We spent weeks of trial and error, of money and time, of wasted products and hair-pulling, to wade through a minefield of ignorance and lack of information, just so that we could figure out the answers to the questions that you're asking now.

This forum gets you half way down the road before you've even started and makes it easy for you to go the rest of the way.

Ancient version? I'm still using AutoCad 97 (the LT version). AutoCAD 2007? Luxury! :biggrin:

The search facility depends on a couple of key factors, firstly that you're searching for the right combination of words which leads to the second key factor....that those words are there to search for! This all sounds very simple but time after time folk don't put much description in their thread titles...

I'm yet to come across the search police, just members trying to help I guess.

The Ricoh use a Powerdriver so you can print from any software without relying on a printer profile.
