installing the refillable carts into the brother printer.....instead of the usual hook above the magenta to fool the printer the door is closed - i got the tool seen below.....

the way its shaped, i presume it goes into the right hand side, next to the magenta cart.....only got 1, so dont wanna break it .

have tryed various ways...straight in - upside down, to the left/right of the original bracket thats there....nope.....

the other hook version went into the top....but this little bugger, i take it must go in the right hand side next to the original bracket, as its the same shape.....or i,m i wrong here ?

I use these cartridges (as you know) and I actually ended up with the wrong ones for my MFC5890CN (the tag on the magenta isn't long enough to get in the slot). So I just used a bit of bent plastic pushed into the slot and Bob's yer uncle. It sometimes comes lose if I jog the printer, but that'll teach me to print while half asleep!

The trick here (as mentioned in my original review) is to always put the magenta cartridge (or "bit of bent plastic") in *last* - otherwise the printer thinks you've closed the door and so won't recognise when you slot in the other cartridges.

It's all very logical, it's just that we humans aren't very logical...

I'm actually using the slightly smaller cartridges in my two A4 printers and the door closes fine with them in.

Good luck tomorrow! I wouldn't use anything else that's available on the market right now.

Both!

I've never been more content and less stressed than I am now using Brother printers and refills. Haven't touched my Epson printers for ages.
