Just read this thread and it looks like the sign site has been closed, anyone know anything about this?

I'd never heard of the site before, but reading that thread feels very familiar.
A site/forum run by one person doing all the hard work, putting up all the funds, who's underappreciated and frustrated by lack of support from others... so the site ends up being shut down.
I can't help but feel that reminds me of another site/forum...
Perhaps it should be taken as a warning to all.

I don't know about that. Reading the following from the guy I presume was the owner makes me think otherwise:
I'm the most relaxed I've been in 7 years and Cal is enjoying her newfound freedom of not having to server check everyday. The time we've missed dedicating every day to checking a website is gone... the extra cash will be a bonus, the freed up time will be well spent. We'll concentrate on what we should have done in the first place.
In hindsight, perhaps setting up a free to use site for signmakers wasn't the best investment of time and money, (...)
As has been said, life is too short... and personally I intend to make the best of it with my wife, my family and my friends.
That sounds to me like the owner of the site has drawn a line under the whole thing and moved on.

I feel sure that Dew-Eye will be unable to refrain from telling everyone his opinion for long.

indeed GoldRapt, quote from the thread on sign site states ''
Somehow I doubt that a 'last word hoor' like yourself will disappear for long.'' Probably he has gone bancrupt again, like last time,
however typical of the man he has to make up excuses and blame non existant personal attacks on him, its pathetic.

I think few forum members realise the amount of effort put in to starting and running a forum. On a lot of the forums I visit, you get a hell of a lot of information and support for no contribution what so ever. This site seems pretty sorted though which is good.
I started my forum 6 months ago, and for the first 4 weeks I was averaging 12-14 hours a day getting it going. It's now down on average to a couple of hours a day, but depending on updates/upgrades I can lose the odd day here and there as well.
Never heard of this particular site which has closed, but it's a real shame to lose something which was clearly well established. If you are trying to run a large site on your own, it will drive you to distraction. I have a team of 6 now looking after the site to spread the load, but it's still hard work, and thats with just over 300 members so far. It's that site that brought me here so I can quell the constant chants for merchandise!
So to the mod team, keep up the good work! To the members, give your mod team a good old pat on the back!

You lost me, I was lamenting the fact that someone joined posted what they did and never returned.
It wasn't a comment about the running of this forum.
