i have several sub printers with empty cartridges and was wondering if i pull out the ribbon can i use sublimation ink to cover the various colours then let it dry before rewinding them to the start i have kodak,cannon and sony,can any one advise me before buying the thermal inks

Not sure you're in the right place here, the forum is for dye sublimation. Maybe someone might be able to offer some advice though

sounds like 'Heath Robinson' to me and probably a messy expensive mistake waiting to happen....oh and welcome:biggrin:

You can reuse photo rubbings, but you will get a ghost of the previous photo prints

yes that makes sense,but surely if i recover it with sublimation ink then the shading would go,it would be interesting to try,as i have already undone a couple and rewind them ok,and was thinking it could be coated using a template,like screen printing,but use a small sponge or airbrush to cover it,its just that its both hard and dear to get new ones,the original idea must be the same

You'd never get the ink to cover the ribbon evenly and I doubt it would dry as its an acetate like material.
Its a different process altogether - go on ebay, put your ribbon part number in and do a search - that's where I get my cannon selphy carts from.
