That could be a combo of a print output setting on your printer and the mug press temp too high. What is your temp currently set to?

If it is bits of ink then these 'bits' must be on the paper for it to transfer. You could test this by just putting your mug in the press with a plain piece of paper around it - nothing will happen. Then using the same mug with a printed image (that looks like it has white unprinted space) you may find the 'bits' appearing on the mug. That's probably down to the printer 'spitting' ink over the paper that may be difficult to see, but is still there.

is there a chance some ink could have seaped onto the heatblanket ?? as BMS say test it with some plain paper, and if needbe press with a sheet of silicone between the paper and the press

this is happening with quite few printers. D88 was the worst one for this!

I remember printing onto to Xpress paper using the highest quality print setting and when I pressed the mug it picked up so many ink particles. It almost looked like dust. The mug on closer inspection was covered. I didn't see it on the paper pre mug print.
