Trying to fathom out the pitfalls before i fall into the pit...

Notice several references in the forum posts regarding problems printing upto/close to the mug handles.
What exactly is the cause for concern here?
Is it just that the heating element loses heat towards the edge, or is it an issue with heating the handle joint?

And what do people regard as being a 'safe' area for printing a 'wrap round' design

Its a case of the handle being thicker so the area doesn't get to the right temp for the ink to sublimate properly along with the press blanket doesn't reach to the handles. You'll get ink bleeds and faint colouring etc - its really trial and error to see how good your press is and how close to the handles you're going to get as all presses are different.

Cheers John

Mainly that the heating element loses heat at the extremes of the blanket. You may get away with 210 or 220mm width around a standard mug, but if you do that then you'll be printing 2 up in landscape on a sheet of A4. Go for 200mm wide and you'll get 3 up on A4 in portrait.
