DSF

The last couple of mugs I pressed the ink looks like it has bled around the outside of the picture - but one colour only, blue. And it is happening even with designs that do not show much actual blue in the design there is a smudge of blue, mostly at the top but to a lesser extent at the bottom as well. The print before pressing looks perfectly clean with straight edges and no visible smudging. Nothing has changed, same ink in same bulk system in same printer, same mugs and paper. Never had this before, I will be trying a couple from my other printer this evening. Would be grateful for any ideas what may be causing it.

PS just remembered also did a luggage tag and same happened so not the mugs, must be ink or paper????? Could the ink have somehow got contaminated even tho it is in CISS?

Just a thought, but have you checked your press and that there is not a blue mark on there that is transferring to your mugs?

definitely not that, it happened on the flat press as well, but thanks for the idea.

There isn't any dust on the items is there?
When dust is heated up on sublimation items it can leave blue flecks on them

My guess - your paper is too cold, warm it up first with a quick blow with a heater / hair dryer, don't heat it until it warps/curls, just take the chill off it and see if it makes a difference.

Before or after printing John? I had a similar prob with faint smudging around Xmas time and my set up and paper was in a totally unheated & bit damp utility room (it was often warmer outside) - so maybe that was the cause. Never occurred to me could be anything other than ink.

Before printing - just take the chill of the paper as it may have absorbed dampness due to the cold.
