Can anyone tell me if these inks can still be used after the expiry date and if so for how long

I've had a few problems lately with my Ricoh 5050n and it did happen to coincide with using out of date Sublijet-R inks. It turned out not to be the inks, but I have read that out of date inks can damage the head on a few different websites - Sawgrass also said not to use out of date inks but they would, wouldn't they.
