After u heated the image on mugs and rip the paper off - what exactly do u do with you mug ?
Myself i just put it on a mat and leave to cool - but tonight someone told me the correct way is to put the mug into a bucket of room temperture water for it to cool down instantly


What is the correct way ?

I use a fan to cool them downs. I use to dunk in water, but on a big run it was easier to use the fan, each to their own methods.

if you dunk use warm not cold water, too much shock to the mugs

i use fan cooling too. dipping is not correct way. is the way of choice whatever suit yo and your mugs is correct.

btw... once you have few "pings" you may change your mind

I drop them in warmish water!

I place them into room temp water. Ran a test recently, left a mug to cool naturally and the image did run/ghost a little. I think the key is getting the heat out of the mug quickly....but not too quickly!

so basically the idea is to get them cooled down ASAP - now this i never done - i just leave to cool - takes about say 15 mins
On my next one will try room temp water see what happens.(bet ya kids knock the water bucker over)

For us it largely comes down to the design requirements. Most we don't cool at all and just let it happen naturally. Others that would have a bleeding problem we will dunk in room temp water. For people who print one offs it's probably easier to cool as a matter of course. As we tend to do larger runs the first couple of mugs out will let us know whether we should need to cool or not. One day we'll get a sparkling new conveyor oven with built in cooling unit before they come out...... well I can dream anyway.
