I don't know if I can answer, but:
1. if you want to sublimate, you have to use sublimation tshirt (some cotton inside, polyester outside), or polyester t-shirt
2. if you want to put transfer using transfer paper, you can use sublimation ink (but preferable is pigment ink - a) cheaper, b) better wash results)
-------------------------
1. your image (design) will be part of the t-shirt
2. your image (design) will be on top of your t-shirt
I hope, it is right and understandable...

cardman, you will be pressing the t shirt transfer onto the t shirt, and the transfer stays, it does not peel off to leave the image, the image is on the sheet, and the sheet is adhesive. i would think using sublimination inks you will not get the same colour, you really need pigment ink
and smitch - you beat me to it tank top pmsl
