most ecommerce sites will allow uploads of jpg/gif etc I suppose it depends if your just looking at uploading the artwork so you can deal with it or allowing them to upload it so they can place it on a mug/tshirt or whatever. The latter will be the harder part but still do able. Take a look at opencart, they have an extensive support forum and if your looking for the latter above you could pay someone off the forum to code it for you. If its something several people on here were wanting you could split the initial cost to get it done whilst selling the mod on the opencart extensions and make your money back!!

this is the sample item from the demo site
http://demo.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... duct_id=42 it pretty much shows you all the options you can add on, file upload is there.
From the admin side you can select which file types to accept.

TBH I only know as i have been learning it myself for the last week or so trying to get everything how I want it, then deleting it and starting again lol.
Having spent a few days on zencart then OsCommerce I have to say open cart is by far the most user friendly. It can be a little buggy but the support forum is pretty good with a lot of knowledgable people who seem to offer help quite quickly. I know of atleast 1 person from here using opencart so maybe they'll offer an opinion too.
Give it a go, if you have the domain and hosting already you have nothing to loose.

I use Prestashop on my site and have found it very easy to set up and run. Some people are put off buy the apparent lack of free modules, but there is usually a free option if you look hard enough. The file upload works a treat strait out the box.
