My 10 year old - loves Katy Perry, GaGa, The Wanted, JLS etc loads and loads of different pop stars/group, but this changes daily. Took her to see the smurfs on Sunday, the audience were half her age but she still loved it - i'll never get that hour and a half back though!
Best off asking them as you won't be cool if you print them a ac/dc t'shirt - maybe get away with the rolling stones famous image.

I did my neighbours boy a T shirt with a headless smurf on, so it looked like he was a smurf if you get me! His freinds love it and have asked if i can do them one but i wasn't sure if i could? The smurf wasn't an image from anywhere, my son drew it. I'm not sure on copywrites and things is there a discussion giving advice on this sort of thing?

Now, I'm not an expert in this matter and only post this as others may be able to confirm or dismiss what I say.
But, as far as I knew (after much reading), you can draw a copyrighted character as long as it's for personal use and you don't sell it or claim it as your own. Don't forget to mention the original creators or company that own the cartoon characters in the drawing itself or in your drawing's caption (if posting it on a fan art site).
In a nutshell, all kids like to draw - but when you start to sell something that has been created by someone else and there is a trademark/copyright on the character then things 'could' go pear shaped.
As I say though, not an expert - where's Matt when you need him?

On another note - I know my boys aren't 'pre teens' just yet but you wouldn't believe me if I asked you what their favourite program was!
They are twins, aged 6 (7 in Jan) and I came home one day to find Mum in the kitchen making cakes with no boys. I asked where they were as they always liked to help with the cake making exercise, only to find that they hadn't moved off the setee for the last couple of hours. I went in to find them sat watching in awe at 'Jamie Olivers 30 minute meals!'. Now we have to sky plus this plus Bear Grylls, and when they're not on, they settle with spongebob!
I thought it was a phase (new program) but this has been a good 6 months now!
Comical though as they both sit there and say (usually in unison) "Jamie Oliver ........................ he likes his oil!"
(as in he puts oil over everything when he's cooking!).
Bless em!
