I don't normally post these kinds of things, but this offer seems too good to miss.

Personally, I'm a Dropbox user but I'm not one to turn down 50GB free online storage. I'm trying out Box.net for the first time today and Dropbox does seem more flexible - no file size limits, no bandwidth limits, and client-side sync tool on all accounts. Not sure how Box.net handles historic backups just yet, but Box.net does seem to have collaboration tools.

50GB for free means there's no excuse for not backing up those critical files you just can't bare to lose to an offsite/online location.

Yes, that is the key downside but they've apparently done this kind of offer before for other devices. They're doing it now for iOS devices because Apple have just introduced their iCloud service (which is useless of you have an old iPhone/iPod Touch or are running Windows XP on your main computer anyway).

I'm going to use Box to store a chunk of audio files (accessible from my iPad, iPod Touch, Android phone, and, of course, PC). That'll save me having to use up my Dropbox space for them (I use Dropbox for more important stuff and for the convenience of the sync app/version history).
