Just last week, the City Council of Bristol United Kingdom decided to take a leaf out of Melbourne, Australia's book and make a run down street in the city centre more attractive.
Costing £80,000 they gave permission to invited street artists from around the world to come and paint legally, where normally they would be arrested.

The council provided everything to make this happen including the Health and Safety Look outs for the Cherry Pickers. Most if not all of the work was done at night, with finishing done during the day.

I visited yesterday (Sunday) to take photographs. There was no Banksey work as this built on his show of last year.

I marvelled at what can be done and got inspired from some of what I saw, maybe if you have a look you will too.
There are 67 photos in all.

Some really great images there. I love all this sort of art/grafitti its just the pointless tagging etc that I think is sh1te, although I know a few people who still this sort of stuff as nothing more than mindless vandalism (even with permission) lol

I too think of tagging and some of the destructive graf as just damage.
This stuff had a purpose and was beautiful. Mind you the crews had a party after and trashed one place :-)
