I am just posting this as I have to say it is the most "at your throat forum" I think I have experienced. I know forums are all very similar with the "Cliques" and mighty ones ruling the roost but this one seems worst than most.

The hostility to new posts sometimes amazes me.

Sorry to see you go - but I do understand what you are referring to...
For example I felt the t-shirt quote thread not so long ago seemed to attract alot of unnecessary comment, but it is only the minority and most people offer some great, free advice..........

i also know what you mean sometimes i cringe when i see some of the replies but as TPM said it's only a few thankfully

i know how hard it is to run a forum and to keep everyone happy is impossible, i have nearly left myself a few times but the help here is excellent usually and i'm glad i didn't leave

First and foremost I'm sorry you feel that you can no longer stay with us but I appreciate your comments and feedback.

I've worked very hard to establish what's become a valuable source of information for many new/experienced members. I've done this by sacrificing a great deal of my own time. I completely understand what you are saying with regards to new threads but I have always allowed members a certain amount of freedom when replying, choosing not to 'police' the forum at every opportunity.

I'm afraid I don't understand your comments about the mighty ones ruling the roost. I run the forum by myself with help of our moderator Paul, so I don't know if that's aimed at me or the small number of key members who constantly go out of their way to help new users. All so often new members get what they want and rarely return, often asking vague questions.

I will be introducing guidelines shortly which may help some of this but short of hammering everybody over every non constructive comment there's little I can do.

I take it I missed something as I hardly see anything that resembles conflict on here. The odd cheap remark is made which I possibly so one yesterday but these aren't that often either. Compared to most other forums this is a walk in the park.

I guess without the "clique" there wouldn't be a forum of any use as the core members are the ones who answer questions without expecting anything in return. I personally don't think there is a clique of any sort on here, just the odd person who might make an underhand comment. If daft, lazy questions are asked then there will be a few more people making comments but that's the way forums go. To many times to you get a question from someone who has made no effort what so ever and expect people of the forum to come running to answer.

As for the OP, as you you have been about for a while it's a pity you are leaving as it is a small forum. I don't scan all the threads so perhaps you have seen a bit more aggro than me. It does annoy me when I see the cheap shots as well.

That's a shame - I think this is the most helpful forum that I have ever been on!

maybe it was me with the VW images ?? or maybe it was the royal mail thread ?? as for at your throat, yes i can remember the thread on taxes i think, but on the whole its a friendly place, sometimes the written word looks harsher than it would in spoken words, as you dont know how that person talks normally if that makes sense, in the beginning i thought some of pauls replies were abrupt - then i found out he was polish, so i know its the language rather than the person if that makes sense (and paul i am not having a go - just showing an example)

i tend now not to answer the same questions that pop up - as i am sooooo tempted just to say "read the bloody forum before asking questions" but i know in reality a lot of people will have come across the forum whilst searching for help, and post their question without thinking it will have been answered before, and sometimes in order to answer we need basic questions answering, what paper, what printer, what press, what time, what temp etc, but that comes in time.

this is such a small forum at the moment, and justin has done us proud.
