ok so it'll never happen to me well it did my printer started bleeding ,,,,,blackish ink all over the table top yup my waste ink pads were full so i invested in a waste ink bottle (epson 1400 by the way) now theres an eduction have you seen how much ink is wasted on a head clean

a lot!

very easy on the 1400 justin unscrew and unclip the side panel the waste ink tube is in front of you ease it of the connecter to the ink pads then connect it to the waste ink bottle tube job done. the instructions make it sound more complex and there is a you tube clip which helps. i'll get the name of the place i got the kit from for you i think it cost about 10-12 quid from flea bay

Many thanks, just saw one on eBay, probably the same. Mine told me parts were ending there life/service etc. and I managed to reset but I guess this would be a good upgrade right now.

Yes it's quite an eye opener when you can actually see how much ink is going into the waste bottle. I took a R1800 apart and washed the pads and re-fitted them, takes a bit of time but saves money in the long run.
