I've been asked to print on some 8 sided cool boxes for the cafe on the holiday site i live/work on

they are a canvasy material and are dark blue
they want some text and an image on 6 of the sides
text i was going to use normal t-shirt vinyl/flock (or whatever it's called lol)
and for the image i was going to use the paper i have for dark T's
that you print with an inkjet and then press on it's like rubbery stuff
they are quite big 13" high and double up as a stool
and have a reflective inside which can't be removed and have padding all round
any ideas on the best way to press them?

I have explained that i wasn't keen and that i don't like using customers own products in case they get wrecked and she was ok and said if it gets wrecked it gets wrecked, and she's willing to give it a try as she wants them done and would prefer me to do it rather than send them away.

First thing I would do is put them under a press at 140 degrees for 15 seconds. If that works then up temp to 170 for 20 seconds.

The first temp/ time will be okay for nylo flex and the higher temp/ time for ordinary flex/flock.

can i use normal t-shirt flex? on whatever it is?

and would it be advisable to press it with nothing on just to test it 1st?

Press it without anything first to see what temp it will withstand. If it is okay at 140, but melts at 170 then you'll have to use nylon flex. If it is okay at 170 then you can used standard flex & flock. If it melts at 140 then you won't be able to use anything much.

ok i'm really hoping it doesn't melt lol
i found a bag which has the same type of finish and it says 100% polyester so i'm hoping it will be ok :~

If it's polyester and will withstand the higher heat the I'd be inclined to use sublimation.

lol that's ok that why i was intending on using that paper for dark transfers for the image and flex for the text,
i'm just a little worried that it'll melt lol
although she has said it's ok if i wreck it as it was only £7 but it's still someone else's product :~

Can you not use sign vinyl instead?
