Hi,
we know that childrens clothes are zero vat rated (upto 14 years)
When we supply and decoarate then it is all zero rated, but
What do you do when a client supplys the garment and we only decorate ?
Is the print/sub/embroidery charge zero rated or standard vat rated ?

Standard rate vat - I'd say standard on the kids as well. I was printing for 2 embroiderers in the north east, they supplied the garments and I screen printed them - because it was a service I was offering I had to charge vat regardless if they were for school PE kits. Just because they are kids clothing they still have to fit into certain criteria.

Always worth a phone call to the VAT National Helpline. That way you get a name and a reference to go back on should there ever be any queries. Tel: 0845 010 9000
