Pad the mug press out with a silicon wrap possibly? What diameter are the mugs?

Did you get these off ebay Paul?
I saw something very similar a few days/weeks ago and was going to get some - glad I didn't now!
To answer your main questions, what about using the old mug wraps in a domestic oven?

little update:
i tryed with mug wraps and it did not work. so if any oneuse mug machine or oven with those claps:
then you can forget about animal handle mugs. it wont shut as handle it to thick.
But i tryed in normal mug press and it worked w=great!

just lowered preasure to minimum and wraped the mug with silicon rubber.
worked fantastic.
