Having just purchased a mug press from xpres, it comes with a box of 10oz mugs.

In looking at BMS and love cut (cheaper suppliers of mugs?) I notice that their mugs are all 11oz - is this a problem?

Are 10oz mugs easy to get hold of...or do 11oz mugs fit in the xpres mug press?

Thanks in advance

Sadie

lovecuts are 10oz
both fit in the press ok and the main dif is the 11oz is 1oz bigger rofl (sorry couldn't resist)
no seriously tho the 11 is about 1mm higher and 2mm wider
the 11 just look slightly chunkier in my opinion

i always had lovecuts mugs and they are 10oz but to be honest i think they are all seconds
so i've swapped supplier same price but 11oz

It largely comes down to preference and ou will find that just because it is an 11oz it doesn't guarantee that it will be the same size from a different supplier anyway. I have heard some people say that they have had a 10oz mug where the press doesn't secure tightly but very rare. You should be fine to use either size on your pess. I only ever use 10oz where others tend to stick to 11. More often than not it comes down to your preference of supplier.

I guess I did ask for the 1 oz bigger answer!! Pleased to hear they all fit. Was thinking of purchasing BMS (once I get thru my supply of xpres ones) as have seen good reviews of them?

Thanks for answering!

Hi Sadie & welcome to the forum

To be honest size wise there isn't that much difference between 11oz & 10oz mugs apart from I have found the handle on the 11oz ones to be quite a bit bigger. I tend to prefer the 10oz ones myself & have found so do most of my customers. The main thing to look for is quality as there are a lot of poor quality mugs out there such as on Ebay. Always look for dishwasher safe or better still dishwasher proof. There are also 2 differnt types of coating RN & Orca & most tend to prefer the RN coated mugs but I like both & never had an issue with the Orca coated mugs. I would stay well clear of Lovecut for the mugs to be honest as quite a few members here have had some issues with Lovecut. I bought my first batch of mugs from them a few years ago & had quite a few that were damaged & poor quality.

The BMS 'B' Grade mugs are quite a good buy right now for someone new & Subli-Supplies do some excellent mugs too.

Hope this helps & if you have any more questions then you know where we are.

Ian

Wow - hadn't even thought of there being a difference between 'dishwasher safe' and 'dishwasher proof' - thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the welcome!

I used lovecut's and mine were 11oz - had serious problems with people complaining about the print washing off in the dishwasher so I stopped using them. BMS and Xpres now - you do get what you pay for - saying that the lovecut mugs printed fine and are OK to handwash!

We have 11oz as well as the European mugs (these are closer to 10oz).

I only use 10oz as the 11oz I find too heavy/chunky. I have the Adkins press which is probably the one you have (verrrry good press btw!) BMS mugs are excellent, I've used the B grade but the 'white spots' have caused a few problems as they often appear right where they shouldn't! I'll use the mugs again but won't buy the B grade.
