I had an e-mail from ralawise earlier saying that some of their items will be going up in price .....

email reads:

Dear Customer,

As you are aware with the current uncertainty and volatility in our industry with respect to the well documented increases in the cost of textile and clothing production, it is with regret we advise that as of 4th April 2011 there will be more fluctuation in the pricing on a number of products/brands within the Ralawise offering.

Unlike previous changes there is however a good proportion of brands who we have been working hard with to keep the prices stable and at present we are being told that this will remain the case until July 2011.

BRANDS WHERE THERE ARE NO CHANGES ARE:

BRANDS WHERE THERE ARE SOME PRICE
CHANGES ON THEIR PRODUCTS ARE:

Image Within these brands there are decreases and increases in products along with a good proportion of products where there are no changes. Most notably Fruit of the Loom are reducing the prices on some of their Polos and Sweatshirts.

Ralawise are currently trying to finalise these amends and notify you at the earliest opportunity to allow you to prepare to make the necessary changes. We will make available a price list showing those products, where changes have been made, this will be available to download from www.ralawise.com early next week. We will also have a priced catalogue made available to our customers, making life that little bit easier for you.

We would also like to remind you of the new Ralawise smart phone internet site, m.ralawise.com. This works on many smart phone handsets, including iPhone, Blackberry, Android and many more. This will allow you to access live pricing and stock, whenever and wherever you are. For further details please call 01244 838208 or email mobile.support@ralawise.com.

Finally, we would again like to remind you that these price fluctuations are likely to continue throughout 2011 and we do expect further price amends to be made in early July. Please accept our apologies and be rest assured we are working hard with our suppliers to try and gain some stability in our marketplace. We appreciate how much disruption this may cause and will keep you informed on progress.

Kind Regards
Ralawise

i know, it was tongue in cheek honest, its just seems to me whenever i get an email from ralawise its to tell me their prices have gone up :)

i am seriously looking at our prices at the moment, i supply a few schools and colleges and pennies are tight all round, but some of the hoodies and sweats have gone up significantly since our last price list for them last year

Everyone should look at increasing their own selling prices due to suppliers increasing theirs. I made the mistake of absorbing suppliers penny increases over the years and when I did finally look at my selling prices I was miles off, profit wise. Your customers should understand - everythings gone up!

Lets not forget that although everyone may have to increase their prices - there is still some opportunity to make a little more profit.

I'm not saying that I'm doing this - or that anyone else should (but let's not forget, this is business at the end of the day), if a t-shirt has gone up ............ say 20p then your price increases 20p to take that into account - and you make the customer aware of this to which they are happy.

But, any stock bought previous to this would have been bought in at the old price - selling at the new price, making a little more profit on those particular items.

Like John said, trying to be the 'good egg' and absorb any prices won't necessarily make you the person that everyone comes to as everyone see's the prices going up and expects it. Like one customer told me recently, if they don't see prices go up the first thing that crosses their mind is that they were overpriced in the first place!
