Hi people,
I have an Epson xp-970 printer that I use for printing my photography but it's not getting much use recently. Is it possible that this might be suitable for using with sublimation inks?
Thanks

No reason why not, if you can find a suitable CISS or refilable cartridges for it (and a profile). It might be a bit slow if it is a photo printer.
A CISS can be a pain to use unless you are using it everyday - they tend to need recharging if they aren't used regularly. I find two sets of refilables are easier to use.

Not sure as I'd bother personally when there are tried and tested options at a lower price.

I already have the printer so lower price doesn't really apply as refill carts with ink I have found for about £40 but a new A3 printer will be around 600

I've found some refillable carts with ink but the seller doesn't make have a profile for it though they say they're close colour match to the original Epson carts and confirmed the ink is sublimation

You would need to know what make of ink you're using to ensure consistency on refils etc. You'd also need to get a custom ICC profile made to work properly with it.

Hard to find affordable A3 printers for sublimation now everything has gone Eco tank.
If you can't get a profile for your 970 then this is a good cheap option for A3 or occasional A3+. (Below - about £250 for printer, ink, profile and carts)
Printed 280 full colour A3 transfers last week for a fun run t-shirt. Didn't miss a beat for two whole days of non stop printing - no miss feeds and printed about 22 sheets an hour, which is much faster than a photo printer would manage. Only needed to fill carts twice a day, so not particularly ball breakingly time consuming.

Compatibility with Epson ink isn't relevant unless you have an Epson SUBLIMATION profile for that printer.

We've said it a million times, buy cheap buy twice, don't try and set everything up on a tiny budget, you'll end up having to flush cheap inks through with decent ones, replacing printers etc. Better to spend more in the first instance and get it up and running quickly so you can make money. Just my opinion of course and I am very much into finding cheaper ways wherever possible.

Doesn't sound like the seller knows much about the ink tbh. Maybe he just buys and sells from China like so many FleaBay sellers do. Any decent ink supplier should be able to advise on profiles and would have profiles for particular printers.
