Re: Heatpress when the ink is wet or dry?

Post by davidmfranks »

As per my intro, I am very very new to DS printing. And I thought I'd ask my silliest question first:
Is it best practive to heat-press as soon as the paper leaves the printer? I have a couple of prints that have been left overnight; are they still going to give good results?

It seems counter-intuitive to leave the inks, sorry, DYES, to dry when I'll soon be turning em into vapour.....
Please don't laugh, I'm only just learning!

Hi Dave, no such thing as a silly question, we all started somewhere :-)

You should leave the print to dry before pressing. Time to dry depends on your paper, inks etc. But usually it's just a few minutes.

Overnight should still be fine, only time I've had issues not pressing soon after printing was with a different type of media that absorbed some moisture overnight.
