My wife's friend has asked me to put a bit of htv on a top for her husband but i haven't ever pressed onto one of these before.

Is it safe to press onto or will it melt?
the last thing i want to do is ruin his top for a favour.

Highly likely you'll get a press mark around it. I avoid one offs like this as you just can't test the material first. Favours don't make me any money....I still do them but more fool me!

I did 20 t-shirts for a hen party that my niece was attending where they supplied their own shirts. All came out ok except for a couple containing elastane which left a flattened 'sheen' where they had been pressed which I couldn't get rid of. I avoided anything containing elastane after that.

This is why i asked.

You would need to use a low temperature vinyl - both to stop the possibility of the elastaine melting and to guard against dye migration. You will get a sheen/press box, but that is just par for the course.

I always make the customer acknowledge that there is no guarantee with customer supplied garments, and that you accept no liability for any problems that may occur. If you mess up a £50 Man U shirt for the sake of putting a name on the back you are going to be well out of pocket. Also send a spelling proof, for obvious reasons.

He wanted his club logo on it who he plays for. they dont even have a logo it's copied and badly edited
