Re: New(ish Unisub Cork Back Coaster Problem

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if its only my wife and I experiencing this issue as its driving us mad.

We have printed Unisub coasters for years now, very consistently with great results. None of our kit has changed. The hardback coasters still seem fine but at some tie recently Unisub changed their coark back coasters from 95mm to 96mm. Not the end of the work I know and we got over that but last month we had 4 boxes of them with a failure rate of over 50%. When you look at the blank at the start it looks pretty normal but once pressed you can seem the white surface liftng from the hard board in very small places. They almost look like bubbles - but whilst checking them over they started cracking or liftng totally from the hard board. We spoke with Xpres - sent them pictures and ended up returning what we had left with some of the faulty printed ones and they were exchanged. It was the best we could hope for at the time and the replacements seemed mostly better with just a few being effected.

Now I have just ordered four more boxes this week and the first 18 we pressed all did the same. The ones that are doing it are dated march 2022 on the blue stickers, and the ones that have been ok were dated february 2022 so I hope I can speak with xpres tomrrow and see if I can get some dated february again. Although some of the good ones it would seem were also dated march. It's so frustrating, as we are only small scale really and soething like this can have a massive impact for us. During our xmas peak we can just about manange 2k to 2.5k orders mostly from etsy. With everything going on at the moment we just need to crack on as best we can.

Cheers for reading, sorry for the rant but I just wondered if we are alone in this or if others have experienced it. I dont see how it can be our kit but if no one else is getting it maybe I have to rethink it.

Alex.

I have had one that the coating lifted off prior to even heating, and a few with chips but none that have bubbled like you describe, almost sounds like water or damp has got under the coating somehow.
