Looking at easier ways to handle and process orders coming through. At the moment we have one customer who might put up to 50 orders a day through. They upload details and a photo into Dropbox and then put all orders onto a spreadsheet.
We need a better, quicker and more efficient way to accept these orders, identify them rady to pack and ship.
If we can get the orders through a website all the better. We're doing much more fulfillment work now so this could be a great future option.
In the meantime, we're toying with automatically assigning each order with a barcode which would appear on the address label. This can then be scanned to identify the product for packing & shipping but we'd need to have a small photo of the customers image at this stage to identify.
Anyone any ideas? Plenty of managment systems around I appreciate, would be good to have a 'fits all' solution at some stage but many charge a small fortune per month.

Do you mean you want to allow the customer to upload an image to attach to each product with details and then barcode those orders?
I think this is what you after.
File upload plug-in with additional information input for Customer to add instructions.

Barcode orders and invoices

I’m not sure of you want to barcode each individual item or each order?

No, we can already get the images with the order. It's finding a way of displaying the customers image at the point of packing and shipping.
Thanks for the bar code link I'll take a look at that.

Pdf invoice allows you to show an image of the product next to the description but I’m not sure about customised orders?

If you integrate directly with the customer's Etsy shop, Shipstation will display a small image of the product ordered. Hover over it and it displays a larger image for easy viewing.
What are you using for the barcode system Justin?

Gateway 3D will do all of this and more and is what I used to set up a personalisation website previously.
It worked very very well supplying orders (with icons) and creating files ready to drop into Versaworks for printing.
However it was not cheap by any means.
Currently using Shipstation across platforms such as Etsy but not sure it will do exactly what you require.

Yes, we looked at Gateway many years ago and it had started to become very expensive.
I think we've worked out a way, it's just getting customers all on the same platform to make it work now
Will check out Shipstation as well.

Did you sort this out Justin?
im looking to setup something where our local school can send say 300 images and names, class details etc so I know who’s ordered what.
the ptfa is really struggling to make funds and the wife said I can do items for them ??
I have explained I’m happy to do this as my lad goes to the school but implementing it is a different matter.
For example 20-30 children per class with 10 classes each child creates an image for a mug, coaster or tote bag etc.
I need to log each child’s artwork with name and class and what they wanted to order.
this isn’t something I really wanted to do but if I can cover my costs and help the school I will because they have been fantastic.

We found a couple of possible solutions but both were very expensive and didn't really do exactly what we needed. Unless you're procesing hundreds, thousands of orders it's not viable.
