Starting to look at options for a wide format printer.

Ideally looking for 44".

Had a look at the Epson F6300, running costs great but I don't think the 4 colour print will work for us. Also looked at the Mimaki TS30 much better print, fluorescent option but costs more. Offered a second hand unit at a good price though.

Other option would be to go back to older Epson, 9800 etc. Seem to remember print quality is good, printer prices are decent, not sure about speed. Could be run on Inktec so providing I get profiles so possible cheap option?

Appreciate any advice.

Talk with John at reprorepairs.co.uk as they provide refurb epson printers from small to major sublimation houses.

Cheers, yes I've dealt with John before and would probably go back.

I'm sure I'd get the right quality print, not sure about speed.

The Mimaki JCV 150 range can use sublimation ink. The 30 and 44" versions are a similar price to the TS30, but you have the advantage of having a 'spare' cutter if your main one goes bent.
I have seen refillable carts for them, so you could use Inktec if you wanted.

Stick with epson. Best print heads.

Don't Mimaki use Epson DX heads?

Mimaki could be an option but I see to convert to sublimation needs a few bits changing and head may or may not survive during process.....unless of course it's already on subli inks!

Mimaki sell the jvc150 range with sublimation inks as an option. It is not something you would need or want to do yourself. You would probably want to buy it set up for sublimation from the dealer.

I agree but it's way too expensive to buy new. The TS30 is far cheaper.

Are there any good deals on the TS30 at the moment? Bit bigger than I need, but if the price is right.
