So I heard that you could use plain paper rather than sublimation paper but I didn't believe it. We just tested it ourselves and this is trupix paper on the left and cheap xerox paper on the right. Exactly the same result! Before I switch over, can anyone think of a good reason to carry on using expensive sublimation paper?

EDIT - we've since tried this with a few more designs and after looking at a few results the plain paper doesn't seem to transfer quite as well. As you were :)

good enough reason for NOT using copy paper is image transfer more grainy, and colour gamut is lower.

Thin paper doesn't hold much ink and can ripple. Which mugs are those?

Very impressed with your top to bottom print. Can I ask what mug press you are using?

That design lends itself to getting a better result on cheaper paper. As Paul said on the grain aspect, it would be hidden a fair bit on that image. Paper is cheap enough these days not to worry that much.
