Hi Folks,

I'm new to dye sublimation printing. I've just purchased an Epson ET-2700 with Sublisplash Ink. I've tried it out on a few mugs (12 now to be exact) and am not happy that the colours on the final product are good enough.
I know it will never match picture printing but I've printed a black logo and it is more brown. I purchased an image specific for mug printing with a light blue background and the end product is light green.

I've downloaded and installed the colour profile from Sublisplash for this printer.

I am however using Mac. Sublisplash appear to have their own driver for printing that is for PC.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm running out of mugs and ink!!!

We would need some images and information like times used and temperature.
But from what you said, black goes brown when is over heated for to long time.

Could be overheating, or the profile not being used correctly.

Hi Folks,

Thank you for looking at this.
Mugs are being heated at 180degrees for 180 seconds.

I'm attaching images of the issue showing the difference between the colour print and output and the deep black print.

To me, the colours are just off and not correct. I don't think it is the pressing process, I have adjusted different levels of pressure and times. At all times the output is the same. I feel that it is a printing issue.

I was just wondering if there is anyone else using the Epson ET-2700 with Sublisplash ink (and Mac). Are they using it successfully? Or is it a case that equipment cannot print any better?

The black of the Karen looks over cooked.
180 seconds should be a good starting point form when the press is closed - if your timer doesn't start straight away but waits til the it gets back to 180, then this could be your issue.

In terms of the ICC profile, what software are you printing from, where/how are you using the ICC profile
Have you turned off colour adjustments/management in the print driver?

Yep. Defo overcooked and too much pressure. hence the blurry edges.

We’re you given a Mac specific profile. Also did you set your photo software to print at that sublimation Mac profile

ICC profile files are not specific to OS
