Any idea if used transfers can go into general recycling bins with other paper or should go to landfill? Not sure about the clay coating on the paper.

This isn't the sort of question I want to ask my waste collector, in case they say I need specialist collection.:redface:

Ours go into the paper/card recycling collection - we normally fill a wheelie bin each week with all the waste cardboard and used transfers. Certainly had nothing back from the waste company to say we shouldn't put the transfer papers in there. My thought is that it's a coated paper with water based ink on it - no different from lots of printed paper which will go into recycling.

That mirrors my own instinct on the issue. The only thing that worried me is that some of the paper recycling companies don't like coated paper because of all the clay sludge it produces.

I just gather the transfers up in a neat pile and cut off the heat tape ends. Then put the used transfers into the business collection recycling bin. Who bothers to remove all the sellotape from cardboard boxes? So I wouldn't worry about clay. I wouldn't put laminated photo paper in there though.

Just had an email back from Felix Schoeller, the makers of S-race paper and they say that the paper is recyclable. They didn't elaborate to imply any specialist treatment required, so that is good enough for me.
Recycling bin it is.

We roll up the daily transfers (large format 160cm wide papers) so all quite neat in the bin along with the cut down/flat packed cardboard - our recycling bin in pretty tight packed each week - never had anything back in terms of complaints or fines from the collection company that we were out of scope over 2 years of being with them.

Empty mug boxes I put on Freecycle to give away for people moving house. That should lighten the burden on your recycle bin.
