Hi,

I have searched for this but not seen any useful info on it and you guys did a great job with my previous question.

If I want to print onto pre-coloured poly shirts, will it be a case of the colours getting merged so if I print yellow onto blue it will come out green etc.

I have a client who wants coloured tops.

I have only just started this hobby and white is all I have used so far.

Any tips or help is always appreciated.

Hello,

Nice to hear that you have entered the wonderful world of sublimation. Sublimation works best on white polyester. Colored polyester will affect the results. Wouldn't recommend it.

Your predictions are correct, as you are dying the fabric rather than printing on top of it, so sublimate blue on a yellow t-shirt will give you green, etc.

So, light coloured fabrics can work OKish, but you can't dye something lighter - so you won't really see the results of sublimating onto a black polyester. Conversely, you can sublimate black ink successfully onto coloured polyesters.

Make a colour chart and print onto coloured poly to see how each colours appears on the fabric being used.
It will take an hour or so to do.
I have attached a pdf of the one I made which you are welcome to use. You might want to check that the rgb values in each box open to the same value in your software.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube about this showing the colour differences.
