Okay, so printing out on HR paper from my epson ET-2711 and then heat pressing on to garments etc I get dotted print on the designs and on the scrap parts of paper, (which you cant see when looking on the paper before pressing) from the colours on the design, it happens inside the design and outside of the design. Doesn't happen all the time but enough that it can ruin the t-shirt enough that I can't really send it.
I believe and have been told it comes from pin wheels inside the printer that feeds the paper through, and the ink transfers onto wheels then that goes on to the other areas of print and paper when feeding through.
I print as per instruction on the paper with a high print for best quality.
I'm guessing it's not really a problem thats fixable, as the ink is transferred as it's being printed, which kinda makes the printer a waste of money if I'm wanting to use it for printing garments which is one of the main reasons why I bought it. Does anyone have any advice or had this problem?
Is it worth while investing in another printer and if so are there any that do not have this problem?
I got the kit fro the ink experts, they seem decent enough and have helped me out with things. Haven't been in touch with them about this since it first happened, to ask what it would be, it's happened a few times since thoigh.
P.s. cutting away the scrap paper isn't a problem just the different colours coming through on the designs.

Do you use high speed printing option?
i don’t think the ink is drying enough before passing through the wheel.
maybe turn off high speed printing if it’s on or try a lower quality setting and see how they turn out.
save T-shirt’s and press onto the rear of the Unusable shirts.
Run a few sheets of plain paper through to clear any ink off the rollers though.

Thanks. I'll check a high speed option, not sure I have that, I've not tried a lower setting yet.
Problem, is like you said the ink isnt drying when feeding through if its settling on the pin wheel. Sometimes it's not a problem and works fine and sometimes it comes through on the design. I'll try those options on me tester shirts though to see if that helps.

Under printing preferences you should have high speed already ticked as standard.
I know mine is or was anyway.
Slower printing speeds but you shouldn’t get this problem.

I know this is 2 weeks old and you may have solved it.
Happened to us quite a few times. There's actually another setting to slow down the print speed too.
When you're picking paper type, and quality. Hit "more options". You'll get a slider, where you can slow it down further by 1 notch.

Hey, thanks.
I've not had a chance to print much since then, but I have seen that setting as well as the setting to take it off of high speed. Which I uncheck. The next set of printing I do, I'll move the sliding which goes from speed to quality which I assume when set to quality slows the printing down.

Hi, sorry I have not replied on this thread before, only just seen it.
The pin wheel dots are a common issue with ours (and other) HR papers, the soft coating does make it easily marked by the pin wheel rollers.
There are a variety of methods we have used to help resolve it.
I find the following works well-
Paper Type: Plain
Quality: High
More Options Area-
High Speed - Unticked
Maintenance > Extended Settings Area-
Thick Paper & Envelopes - Ticked
Our HR paper is also very perceptible to heat. The very hot weather we had the past 2 weeks has made the paper very difficult to work with. The high moisture content caused it to curl badly in the heat, this curling caused the paper to catch on the printing head and pin wheel rollers making the issue 10x worse. It got so bad we started including a note on each pack explaining this and advising to print at night when temp was cooler.
Things have calmed down now as the weather has returned to the usual British summer time temperatures.

Hey, I seemed to have sorted it, by unchecking the high speed option and also I sometimes use more options when asking for quality, as I can slide the slider along to high instead of speed. Not sure if it's the same as unchecking the high speed. But seems to work.
