Just a quick FYI on using thermoshrinkable film on a bulk run...

Had an order for 200 cereal bowls come in which required a full print around the entire bowl. Tried the thermoshrink and it worked a treat, image and text are really sharp.

In terms of extra time taken, I reckon the adding of film to the bowls added an additional hour and a half to the run. You could probably reduce this to zero if your workflow was better than mine, I decided to wrap all of them, add the film and then cook. But as I can only fit 10 in my oven it would have been better to cook and wrap at the same time.

Have you found a good bulk/wholesale supply of it, or are you paying sublimation tax?

To be honest, not looked.

The film for this job was only 20p a sheet. When you consider there are very limited options for a full wrap on something this size on such a low print run then I just added it to the bill.

How long did it take to unwrap? We find the brittle wrap can takes between 30 seconds to a minute each depending on how fixed they are and how long your finder nails are If you have any tips to speed things up let us know!

Ps: Could you share your temp and time with us as this may help others.

I have not come across this problem. I tend to unwrap when the item is still warm (not hot) which probably helps, but those that I do leave don't take that long. I often use a scalpal to tear the film. I appreciate it does make a mess, but that gets cleaned up at the end.

With regards to time and temp, they take longer than mugs and I found 20 minutes hit the perfect spot. The dial on my oven was between 170-180 degrees which is about as accurate as it gets. With ovens temperature just needs to be there or there "ish" unlike conventional presses

When we experimented with using an oven and wraps, I took a temp controller and probe from an old flat bed heat press, and sat the temp controller on top of the oven, and ran the probe inside, so I could get a reading of what the temp in the oven actually was, rather than rely on the knob controller on the oven itself. (only using the controller for the temp sensing/reading, rather than bothering to wire it up properly to control the heating element of the oven, which would be possible)

I would probably get some sort of temperature measuring instrument if I used the oven for other things, but afteR having it for a few years and only using it for sublimation there isn’t any point now, the temp is set and works for everything I print so no real need to change it these days.
