I picked up one of these up to try out. It gives really good results; I can see the benefit of pressing the mug for longer with much better results for tricky designs.. A mug will be in the press for about four and half minutes, so not really twice as fast just because it's a twin press.

My problem though; I had a few that finished too soon, then I realised that the timer was counting down as soon as I hit the timer button, rather than waiting for it to reach 175 degrees before counting down.

Has anyone else noticed this fault?

What have you set the idle and cooking temp at?

Idle is it 170, pressing 175. 90s to 170s time depending on the design.

Even though it's a high idle time, it will drop down to 150 degrees when the mug enters as you would expect. Then it will wait a few minutes to reach temp. When you are on a big run of mugs, it will sometimes decide to count down the timer immediately, instead of waiting until it rises up from 150 degrees.

why do you have the idle so high?
At this temp, surely the mug will start to sub straight away ... then cool down, stop, and re start as temp is reached, - smudging?

I thought the purpose of idle was to pre warm the mug to say 120c ... and then hit GO - heats up to cooking temp, then begins count ?

FREESUB ST-210 looks like a pretty bit of kit ... why do you need to press mug for longer?

I couldn't be bothered with idle temperatures. I put the temp right up (like an Adkins) to speed things up...no smudges by the way once you have your time sorted. The temp drops to 150 anyway when you put the mug in and it slowly rises.

However this press still takes close to 5 minutes to press!

Idle @ 125 - cook for 170 for 170 using a Ricoh with Sawgrass inks - Xpres mugs.
Have an old mug in the press until it gets to idle temp (it'll beep) switch mugs for the one to be printed and press the timer (seconds should flash) - it should only start counting down when it hits the 170 temp.

I do it your way John, - but without the dummy mug ...
means if we have time, I can get the mug right up to idle temp across the base, then press go.

Good idea, especially with full coverage/wraps.

This press seems to get consistent rave reviews.

Out of interest, how long does it take to punch out 36 and 72 mugs?

Just wondering if it would be faster than my oven.

Not sure if it would beat an oven - but it's definitely faster than my old Coralgraph press, if you're doing 2 mugs at a time.
