Well, as it says ladies and gents, is it worth upgrading my Cameo to a Cameo 3?
After selling mine it will only be a difference of £100-£200ish.
I’m currently cutting a fair bit of clothing vinyl so 12” is wide enough for now. I use Ultra Cut most of the time and it’s a pain not being able to feed the full roll in properly but I can live with that for now.
I don’t want to be buying a cheap Chinese cutter therefore I don’t see the point in buying a £500+ cutter until I’m getting enough work for it.
What are your thoughts from experience?

Thanks
Mike

If you cameo is still working OK then the upgrade to the new model is probably too small a step to take.
I would personaly keep using the cameo until I needed a larger scale upgrade. When you can justify the upgrade go for something that will take full 50cm garment film rolls.
When you are ready, the new Graphtec CE Lite-50 looks like a good mid sized/mid priced option, sitting between the cameo and a larger 60cm cutter.

Great stuff thank you I’ll read up on the lite-50 as I’ve not even seen it before. I did have suspicions that it wouldn’t be too great of a step going the 1 to 3, but just needed advice and opinions of others. Thanks again!

Ive got a cameo and a cameo 3 - I used to use my cameo 3 until a windows update and now it won't work on this pc so ive had to go back to my original cameo. All Graphtec can say to me is "use it on a different pc" - useless!

I have a Cameo 2, but as I do a lot of print & cut, as well as cutting heaver materials, I upgraded to an 18" Silver Bullet. At first, I was cutting party invitations from printable magnetic sheet and the machine paid for itself in a couple of months.

At present, apart from vinyl, I'm using the Silver Bullet machine to cut backing cards for badges from heavy holographic card...

The Cameo was great as a hobby machine but I still regard it as a toy where business is concerned.

There is a new Cameo 4 coming out later this year that is supposed to have a cutting force of 5000 (whatever that is I have no idea but apparently it is very strong :-))

Here's an early video of the new Cameo 4...
Just the same old, same old to me. It doesn't seem to be able to cut anything that the previous Cameo models can cut. It's very much a hobby machine.

Recently purchased a Cameo 3 and so far seems to be a good buy. I'm only intending to use it for cutting low volume vinyl for T-shirts, Tote bags etc. and was told by MDP Supplies that it would be ideal for that purpose and needn't spend more money on a more expensive cutter which I was thinking of buying from them. Horses for courses, I guess.
