Hi everyone
I'm fairly new to the sublimation world and would like some advice about buying a new printer with refillable inks or ink fed.
I have a Ricoh SG400 which I purchased as a bundle when I first started. As everyone knows the ink cartridges for this printer are really good but really expensive!
Can anyone recommend a really good system to buy?
Many thanks.

No need to buy a new printer, just buy some refillable cartridges and bottles of ink from another supplier.
I use inks from City Ink Express myself but have heard that the Inktec inks are really good. A reputable supplier will also provide a free ICC profile to match their inks.

Good tip.
I too am running SG400 with genuine.
Can i gradually swap over as original carts run out, or do you need to flush and re ink all at once, - presumably with a new profile?
Would you still use powerdriver?

If you do decide to change to a 3rd party ink Logobear it is my advise to change all 4 cartridges and perform a couple of power cleans to flush out the Sawgrass ink and draw through the new 3rd party ink. That way you have a pretty seamless change over to the new ink and you know where you stand.

I should have said, I don't have an SG400, but do have two Ricoh SG3110DN's (same printer?) running on CIE inks. The price of 4 x 100ml bottles of ink is less than the price of 1 standard Sawgrass cartridge!
CIE do SG400 refillable carts and ink -

Not sure about using the powerdriver with different inks. Maybe try it first but revert to an ICC profile if the results aren't great. Personally I wouldn't mix inks, I'd bite the bullet and flush out the Sawgrass inks first.

Thanks webtrekker yes we can provide a complete conversion package (refillable cartridges, 100ml ink set, syringes and needles & ICC for SG2100/3110) I believe customers who do have access to the Powerdriver can continue to use it with alternative inks and I have had a number of customers tell me they are pleased with the results from our ink and Powerdriver.

Vote for Ink Express inks and more importantly their customer service from me.
Have used CIE in the past and I think I was unlucky. From what Webtrekker has said previously they have improved a lot, but Ink Express still win for me as they have good communication and support this forum.
