What makes you think I am looking at my printer options?

I gather the P600 is suitable for sublimation, but the P800 with roll feed would really be quite interesting. Anybody using it? Am I likely to be the guinea pig?

Had a quick look myself, the inset colour range are what you need to consider and the optimiser if they have one?

I can find 9 sublimation colour ink packages for the P800 in Canada.

We always struggled to get the 8 colour printers to work well with sublimation, even when generating a custom profile we could never get the results as good as a 6 colour printer. Never tried an SCP800 / 600 but we did try to work with the Pro 3880 and 4880 and couldn't get good results with them.

We can provide the 8 colours in Inktec Sublinova inks but these were the inks we tried on the above printers with poor results.

I did wonder about this. Many people told me not to use a 6 colour for my film media printing as it overloaded the film and the difference between 4 and 6 colour is negligible. I stuck it out and got the right profile made and proved my point. Many disagree with me over the 4/6 colour debate but I know what works for me :-)

Interesting, so when comes to a A2 I am back to the Sawgrass VJ.

Was hoping to get this sorted by the end of last year, but things cropped up. So I guess pondering for a while longer will not be an issue :).

VJ628 certainly an option. Could you possibly look at the larger Epson Surecolour printers? Or there's the older wide format Epsons but getting a bit like hens teeth now.

My old 7600 was good but died of old age. My experience with the 7890 is best not mentioned.
Not heard too much in the way of negativity about the VJ hence my thoughts. Thinking ahead really as this isn't an essential expansion for the business....more of an indulgence.

My advice, if you need to go bigger than A3 rolls etc. then the VJ is a cracking workhorse but if it's not going to get much use you'd struggle to justify the price tag.
