Hi all,

I'm brand new please be gentle, I have a WF 7110 with a CISS system, I've been using it successfully for 2 years, its had a break over the winter months and now I can't get it to work, I did the usual clean the heads about 20 times got all the lines clear, but it kept coming up ink low and wouldn't print, the system is primed and full so makes no sense, I took the cartridge out and checked it, it all seems fine, since I've put the cartridge back in I'm stuck in a loop, it comes up saying cartridge isn't recognised, I do the open the top close it and it keeps saying the same thing, eventually it starts working, but after 1 print, says the ink is low and wont print. GRRRRRR

Anyone have any idea what I can do to get this working, I've got a small order to full fill, just 4 x A4 pages and its a brand new customer recommended to us, I can't let them down, but I fear it's dead...

Hi Adam,

A low ink warning is given from the digital ink level supplied by data on the chip set on the front of your ink system ink cartridges. The chip set will not reset until it shows a cartridge(s) as unrecognised / empty. If the chipset is reading a low ink warning it will continue to do so until you have used the remaining ink to take it to the empty stage.

Usually I suggest to my customers to simply continue to print until the cartridge shows as empty then reset and go from there.

Does your CISS have a battery on the top of the chipset, I don't think it does but if its an early type it may have a 2032 watch battery on the top of the chip set, these can lose power and need replacing from time to time. Not 100% sure if your CISS has one or not as its not one of ours, but its worth checking, or take a photo and I will try to help further.

Thanks Alex,

No it doesn't have a battery, but it doesn't actually print any colour other than yellow, it thinks the yellow ink is fine and the rest of the colours it thinks are empty, I have tried resetting it many times, but it either says cartridges aren't recognised or low ink, when it says low ink, it won't actually print any of the colours.

It's only a small order but I can't complete it without it working

Ah ok, well the issue is a blocked printing head. The colours that are not printing are not controlled by the ink level reading .i.e a low ink level does not make a colour stop printing. Its just coincidental that the yellow is working and has a good ink level.

You ideally need to clean the printing head out with cleaning fluid, or give me a call on 01902 307111 I can supply some service software by email that may fix the issue.

In your first post you said the printer has been not used over winter so this will have allowed the ink to dry out in the printing heads which explains your issue.

Hi Alex,

But would clearing the heads fix the issue that it doesn't recognise the cartridge?

I will try it again as I've had it switched off over night and see what happens, so I may call you.

Turn it back on and see if it rejects the inks, if it does go through the ink reset process (I assume you press the button on the top of the cartridges to reset the ink levels) if that works you then just need to concentrate on the blocked head issue.

Call me if you like its often easier to talk than typing.

Thanks everyone, I called Alex at Inkexpress and took up his offer to help, he advised me to buy a new chipset which cost me about £5.50 and that fixed the issue, sadly he didn't stock them, but it's so refreshing to speak to people who want to help regardless of if they gain out of it or not.

Alex thank you for your excellent customer service (even though I wasn't a customer), top class, I will certainly be switching my buying to ink express going forward.

Have to say, I have only used them for a couple of bottles of ink so far, but no complaints here on their service and I will certainly be increasing my spend with them this year. They do seem to be bang on the money for prices and more importantly (in my opinion) customer service.
