Hi not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes!
ive been researching lots of equipment to purchase to start my smallish scale printing business. Has anybody got any unbiased recommendations of companies that sell complete start up packages. I initially want to start with mug, plates, glassware and cushion printing and am stearing towards a Ricoh printer.I’ve spoken to a few companies but of course they are going to tell me their amazing and the best company to deal with!

So far, I've only used Ricoh and the print quality has been pretty good.

I now have a couple of Epson printers sat waiting to be setup...but I got more than I expected in a recent purchase

Hi Josephine, all depends on your budget and what you have to spend, Ricoh 3110dn is your sub printer for anything A4 and for mugs etc as you probably know, you could go for a combi press if you want to to plates which had the plate pressing attachments with it but it's finding a half decent one really.

You could try dyesub supplies but there are loads of people on here who can advise you further on the best, you may be even to pick up half decent gear 2nd hand!

Thank you guys. Budget wise as a start off I’m setting aside £2k, looking online I feel I could get all that need with that. It’s trying to go for the right items from the get go so I don’t have to rebuy 6 months down the line. I’ve been looking at the Listawood website, they seem to have a good start up package for less then my budget but that’s with the Sawgrass SG400 printer.

Personally I would go for a reputable supplier who will allow you to come and view/test/train you on the kit, like you say you are new to this, would you prefer spending your time developing products and getting customers or working out why something is not sublimating properly. It may mean your profits are less in the first year or two, but it really is the best way to go.

The three I recommend (in no particular order) are:

Listawood Trade Supplies
The Magic Touch
Dye Sub Supplies
Xpres

All four will let you "play" and teach you if you purchase from them.

Secondly, get everything in one place to start with. That way you have one port of call when you start if something should go wrong (there's no suppliers blaming other suppliers that way).

There may be other companies who also offer the same as the above, if they do then sorry for not including you in the list

The magic touch have an excellent tec support, and their website has lots of tutorials.
Logobear have been printing garments nearly 30 years, and i still phone their tec support at least a couple of times a month for tips on unusual items or how to get he very best results.
They only sell good kit and media.
Your 2k will probably get you a great adkins press, the cmyl oki printer, a richo dye sub, and a mug press, AND free training.
