Thoroughly disappointed to hear back from Adkins today when I told them I wanted to print Chromaluxe Photo Panels which are 17mm that my press won't do them! Gutted as I really wanted to sell these.

Swing-away presses are best for that. However, is the rubber base mat removable on these presses to give more height?

I have measured my 5 x beta maxi.
the average open height is 29mm so you can get the media in, BUT - it won't lock down.
I guess you could just rest it down and lean on it, - don't think you need loads of pressure ... but might be inconsistent.
Never done them before, but when we do wood etc at that thickness it seems to work ok

Adkins sell a table (or at least use to) that replaces the lower platen and allows thicker substrates to be printed with lock down.
I made one myself, bought a 10mm piece of steel and a rubber base, copied the attachment positions and this sat much lower. It's long gone now or I'd upload photo's, I've moved onto Pressmech, no such issues with their presses.

Just looking back at a similar thread a few years back when someone was having the same issue. At the time I mentioned I'd bought a small £100 table top press to do acrylics etc. as I wasn't doing that many back then. This had no problems doing thicker items.

Yes Adkins suggested trying that actually Logobear so will see how it goes doing that maybe.
Justin, yes I thought they would have such a table to lower the bed and increase height but the tech guy in Adkins didn't mention anything to that end so I guess not. And yes, I'd love a Pressmech! That will be my upgrade path if things take off

Adkins do or did a deep platen version, perhaps that had a lower plate
