DSF

Hi I'm printing using inktec sublinova in 1500w, onto trupix paper, onto Gildan 42000 tees, Beta Maxi press.

Each time i'm getting both a border from the transfer paper (Justin recommended tearing around design to feather and avoid that, good advice) but, also an outline from the platen/bed itself. I don't know if it's just this particular tee make but the pressed area also looks really too sheened where its been pressed accentuating the border lines, and well, being to sheeny in the size and shape of the platen. I tried lowering pressure to MIN but still doing it.... used: 50 secs, 190c, min. pressure. Any ideas of the problem?

you don't need any real pressure, just contact really, try reducing ....

It was on minimum. Should i not lock the platen arm down maybe?

if you are new to the game, you should maybe sacrifice some items to see what works for you.
I have been known to nibble away the edge of the platten rubber so the edge is not as crisp....
some people put a towel under/over - maybe adjust time....
OR
you might reduce temp and increase time?
try 180c for 90seconds instead of 190c for 60 seconds

Cut up a few blanks - make sure the bits you experiment with go over the edge, so you can assess what works. Write on the fabric after what you did so you can look back and judge!

I've just been experimenting with what you said fairly unsuccessfully. until, It occurred to me it's the heat platen that is making the marks mainly so putting things UNDER isn't helping really. So I tried a cotton towel OVER the tee and transfer and its a lot better! Admittedly it took a lot longer for the transfer to take though as the heat has to transfer through the towel first. Every heard of doing that? I know of Teflon sheets but I cant imagine they'd provide the same soft protection as the towel does. Or am I likely to just set fire to a towel?!

Edit: I actually did it in three goes of about a minute as I was a little cautions!

You could try a 2 or 3mm silicone sheet.

i have some of that mousemat type material i bougfht from heattransfers is that the same thing??

Would probably do the job, and may be worth a try, but may also give off fumes, if any of the latest posts about pressing mouse mats are anything to go by! :biggrin:

Can you still get those pillows for lifting up the print area slightly?

Reduce your temperature by 10+ degrees and keep the pressure light (as you've done). I use endura fabric from Xpres to soften the edges.
