Hi all,

so the other day I won credit on the Microsoft store and today I saw they have a couple of printers. As my RX700 is on it's last legs I might consider getting the Epson Expression ET-2600 EcoTank All-in-One Printer once I've done a bit more reading up on it.
The thing that's caught my eye is the tank refill system on this. I have enough credit that I could get 2 of these if I wanted, so would one of these work with sub ink? If so I might think about one of these as a backup should the ricoh die.

Yes, they do work with sublimation ink, but be sure to source a correct ICC profile for your setup. The cost per print on these Epson's are fantastic. If you are wanting for a backup then I would say go for it.

I purchased one of these printers and so far so good - Really good print quality, I had to try 2 or 3 profiles but I think I have found one that is perfect for my needs, I was having issues with blacks but the current profile I am using now gives perfect results - as the refill on the side is a god send and you can see how much ink is in just by looking at it.

I would also say the tanks hold aprox 80ml of ink per colour.

Do you not find that the Epsons dither ink (tiny dot formations) - had nothing but hassle with them and have had to return back to Ricoh / Sawgrass

Not that I have yet noticed - I have had a couple of (dots) on a print I did the other day but I think that was more the mug as it was a white dot lol :-p as mentioned I have no complaints yet to make, no doubt I may change my mind in the future but so far so good. don't you have to pay through the nose for the Sawgrass ink?

I thought you needed a code from the side of genuine Epson ink bottles to refill the tanks? Is this true?

They are basicaly a £40 printer with a ciss built in. You are paying so much extra for the built in tanks you will never get your money back.

Why not get an Epson xp245 (£39.99 from argos) and a couple of sets of refillable carts or a ciss? It is virtually the same printer and spec.

Our local branch of Currys had the two printers displayed alongside each other. Ink bottles aside they are identical under the lid.

I personally think the print quality on ET is better then 245 as this is my other printer - I think £200 RRP is slightly higher then it should be - But having the tanks on the end of the printer which is easy to fill with no mess or needles required - no removing carts etc... and you can hold aprox 80ml of ink and see when it starts to run low is worth the extra money IMO
