Hi guys,

Has anyone done any sublimination onto glass votives,sweety jars or little tins? Have been asked if I could print onto something for candles to go into and came up with these options but I don't even know if its is possible!!

Can't find anything suitable on any uk sublimination suppliers sites but found them here .....................

They must be coated for sublimation but if they aren't then you could try the hard surface laser transfers such as CPM from The Magic Touch.

I'd love to try the tins as I have so many ideas I could use them for.

Yeah I'm with you Ian, so many ideas running around in my head for items like these.

Is is my imagination or do other countries have much more choice of dye sublimination blanks compared to what we can get here Think I might e-mail them and enquire a bit further.

The problem with buying outwith the EU is the customs charges and VAT that will get added on to the price.

You can expect to pay approx a third again on the total price.

Doesn't really make things so cost effective after that

I contacted Conde systems asking about a UK operation and they told me to go Home to gifts, I think it was, from memory.

And they still don't have as many sublimatable items as COnde

I think it's Catch-22. Suppliers won't import them because they say there's no interest in them; and there's no interest in them because suppliers won't import them.

I went through all this when I was trying to get plate printing off the ground (that's food plates, not metal plates). We only have one, rather plain and heavy, type of plate available to us here - but, in the US, they have all sorts of patterns, including china/porcelain plates that we just can't get from UK suppliers. Most suppliers have stopped selling even the "plain and heavy" type. The plate printing side of my business kind of died a death due to lack of support.

Trouble is, we can't really blame the suppliers. Every time they buy in something new, they're taking a risk that they might not sell. If they don't sell, they're lumbered.
