Hi,
I recently placed an order with MDP for some of their clothing vinyl. I ordered a selection of colours and when they arrived I noticed that some of them had a white back whilst others were the same colour both sides. I didn't think nothing of it until I pressed a t-shirt with red vinyl with white back. The red vinyl now has a white edge all around, this is very noticeable on dark colours. Has anyone else had this? Hope it makes sense....
Thanks

I dont know why they make this vinyl. Nothing you can do about it except to use it on white t-shirts and never order the stuff again.

I've ordered red vinyl and other colours from them before and never had this. The frustrating thing is that I use very few white t-shirts and if I do they are always black vinyl.

I spoke with MDP who said that some of the bright colour vinyl has a white back to assist with blocking out the colour of t-shirt therefore its visible through the vinyl.
It does make sense, I just need to check before ordering vinyl in future and be cautious with the colour of t-shirt I use.

I mainly use Superflex vinyl from Xpres unless something different is needed like flex etc, never had a problem with it and a good range of colours.

I've just got used to using the hotflex vinyl and would hate to change it right now. Im surprised how different brands of vinyl are with each other. Maybe I will look into the Xpres range....

Its worth a try, cuts well on a Roland GS-24 and equally as good on a Silhouette Cameo, I just cut it off the roll into 300mm wide strips.

That's another thing, what's the best way to reduce vinyl wastage? I cut my vinyl into A4 sheets, it fits into the cutter easily and I can also keep track of usage and waste. Does anyone do things differently?
@matzy - is there any specific reason why you cut off strip's to the size you stated? Do you get little wastage?
I find it easier to cut the vinyl for one order at a time, I'm sure I could use the vinyl more efficiently if I cut bits from other orders to prevent waste.

Hi Coops,
When cutting on the Cameo Silhouette for smaller jobs I have found that a 300mm strip gives me the best output with least wastage, I design the cut to maximise as much of the strip as possible and if there is anything left the offcuts are always saved and reused. On the GX-24 it comes off the roll but if its only a small amount to cut quite often a portion of the width is wasted and again goes into the offcut pile.
