Been searching for this kind of thing but throwing up nothing (probably due to bad searching on my half and not using right words maybe?)

Basically Im wondering what kinda method could be used to print on a mug on top of sublimation for colour changing purposes

Ie. I'll have a design on the mug as normal which obviously only shows up hot otherwise its plain black. I want to print something on top of that surface in white that will always show no matter what.

Would screen printing work? It'd need to be dishwater safe though. or some kind of vinyl I've not heard of?

Any help would be appreciated whether it be "search for this:" or a link to a thread that I've not managed to find.

Thanks in advance :-)

Hi Frostee,

You can screen print over the top of the thermochromic coating. You would need ceramic screen print machinery to do this.
Alternatively if you send the enquiry through to us and we would be happy to provide pricing. The MOQ would be 72 pieces but we would be happy to do this for you.
Also worth remembering is that the WOW mugs or Satin colourchange mugs are not recommended for use in the dishwasher due to the nature of the coating.

I hope this helps,
Mel

Organic screen inks and a potato with sharp knife.

Might want to use something a little more technical for the application side but organic inks will cure at a low temp to suit sublimation compared to standard inks.

There are another couple of methods I have been playing with when I get spare time but still work in progress. It goes beyond single colour overprint as well.

If you do have a larger run, Listawood are going to be your easier option though.
