Yesterday all was fine, this morning the swing action on our Adkins is REALLY stiff.
Really Really stiff.
The manual does say to grease the nipple annually with moly grease.
I confess, in 20 years of adkin ownership and 3 presses, I have never greased my nipples!
We don't have a grease gun, - who does?
tried dribbling oil down the swing shaft but doesn't seem to do much.
Any thoughts?

Is the spring on the back ok??

Just wondering if it was very cold up your way yesterday or in your office. Grease might go like a thick sludge like in the cold.

Just guessing on that though.

...and for the record I have never greased my nipples either have always swung freely...

The spring is good, I guess today was the first cold one of the year. We heated it up and did a couple - but switched it off and have used another since.
Maybe the grease has de-sludged, - and the oil I dripped down the shaft has done its work, - so it has loosened up a bit.
It was just a shock. A workhorse you use every day with your eyes shut, - just felt wrong!
Think I might invest in a moly grease gun, - they don't put nipples on without a good reason..... unless your a man!

I have to confess my husband keeps mine well greased, and cleans off all of the dirty messy grease, its amazing just how much the grease changes over time, but yes the weather will have affected it as well. At least my coffee is not all over the keyboard, smirking at your post Mr Logo

I cant get under the top cover as I cant get the big knob off the top. I have to ask,; what is under the top cover to be greased, and is that where the nipples are?
Up to now I have used a long greasing thingy ( no idea what its called) and grease the two posts under the top cover. But, if nipples need greasing then I should buy a replacement knob and smash the old one off.
And yes, Ive just noticed , my spring has broken again.

I was going to ask if I had to get the top off so I could get at the nipples. But its too early in the morning to be thinking of that, my brains not in gear.
My spring is still broken.

Well if you get your spring fixed you might get your brain in gear!!

today I am not as stiff and can swing more freely, - suspect just need good lubrication! - and a warmer morning.
My nipples are exposed, I don't need to take the top off first to get at them.
