I am new to sublimation. I have wrapped the mug with the paper with art on it.
used the heat tape. Left the area around the handle uncovered. Wrapped the mug
with mug wrap and put in 400 degree oven for 12 minutes. Design is great. But
mug has residue around handle. I have to clean it off and sometimes it does not come
off. Am I doing something wrong? Need some advice. Thanks pat

Your time seems a little high for one mug, however, can you send a picture of the residue and what mugs, paper and ink are you using?

I started to get a brownish residue around the handle (using a halogen oven with clamps) and put it down to the airborne ink gasses as it was more noticeable nearer the top of the mug. Problem solved by cutting the paper slightly longer and 'breaking' the ends over the handle (if that makes sense) before taping it on so that all the coated surface is covered (by the handle by blank paper). No more residue marks.
