Hi All,
Wonder if you can help with me choosing which mug press to get?
I was looking at the pixmax mug press but then I have also seen the freesub double mug press. Are either one of these mug presses any good for a newbie starting out in the world of mug printing?
Look forward to your views / help.
Kindest Regards
Daz

Adkins. Made in the UK, great quality, local support. Not cheap but arguably the best.

Hi Daz,
It might also be worth looking into using an oven. I was doing the same as you last week, looking at mug presses, but was advised that (as I'm working on a budget), that ovens are less costly in the long-run. Also you can get better printing results, I'm told, because the silicone wraps fit snugly around the mug, even if it's barrel shaped. And with mug presses you can't print right up to the edges, or handle, because the image will appear faded.
I had no idea about this when I was looking into mug printing.
Worth looking into.
I still think I'll invest in a mug press, for images that don't go right up to the edges, but that will be in the future when I've made some money to reinvest in an Adkins press.
Hope this helps (bare in mind I'm a total beginner, just sharing what I've been told by people on the forum).

I have 2 mug presses. I have one set at 110 degrees/240secs for pre-heating and the other is set at 180degrees/180secs for the final press. I attach my print before pre-heating and I get nice, sharp results, even with top-to-bottom wraps fairly close to the handle on mugs that don't taper off too sharply.
I'm not convinced about the oven wrap being better for barrelled mugs as the paper print will still crimp at the top and bottom where they taper.

Which posts exactly? Would you be so kind as to provide a link or two.
My experiences with two different mug presses are that you certainly can't print as near the handle as a silicone wrap allows and that distortions are more easily compensated for with a silicone wrap, unless the mug is so barrelled that the paper wrap crinkles under the silicone.

Hi Daz,
We had the same decision to make in September last year, I was tempted by the lower price of some of the other brands but my wife after reading about the net had her mind set on an Adkins Single mug press. As a compromise we purchased a second hand one. Its been fantastic, and I don't often accept my wife being more correct than me but we have now made a few hundred or more. We have had varying degrees of success but I think that's more down to some of the mugs we had. Its great when you crack the settings and manage to rattle off a batch for an order.
Good luck with which ever one you go for though. Alex.
