Hi again guys
We use roll media on our Epson 9800 printer.
We've been asked to print some posters and I know from experience that printing on some of the paper we received with the printer is a BIG no no - it ends up all wrinkled due to the ink. I believe the paper is probably cheap proofing paper!
So, as the subject says, what roll paper would be best to use for printing posters? Colourbyte
http://www.colourbyte.co.uk/content/blo ... /113/1675/ do a matt paper but I want to ensure I get the right stuff
Cheers
John

posters I would say you'd want a satin/semi-gloss or even a gloss paper

It all depends on what they are going to be using them for and what industry your client is in.
For example, music industry ones tend to be blue back paper and the stuff used for bill boards, shops will mostly use a satin so there is minimal glare but gives a nice sheen. Film companies tend to use a high gloss very lightweight paper.
It really is down to your client's personal preference.
If this is something you want to start selling, then a glossy lightweight paper will have the higher perceived retail value in my opinion

Check out Grafityp poster papers. I printed some posters for my workshop years (about 10 yrs back ....printed on a versacamm) ago and they are still as good as new.....printed, left to fully dry (24hrs) and stuck up with blu tac.

Maybe you could be more specific as to what you're meaning by "posters"

Thanks all. I actually bought some roll paper from Colourbyte and printed a couple of posters on my Epson 9800 - they turned out fantastic
Now I need to buy some inks for the printer - anyone got any to sell?
Thanks
John

Thanks Maggs.
We've only used genuine Epson inks in our printer to date - I'm sorta reluctant to change unless there's some compelling reasons.

John

We switched our Epson 9600 over to Inktec's Powerchrome pigment inks - they come in litre bottles, so you'll need a set of refill carts. You'll save loads of money in ink, and I haven't seen any difference in colour (so didn't need to make a new ICC profile) and quality of the print etc is eqaully high to the Epson original ink.
PM me if you want more details

we make our own and match INKTEC pigment is light on black the values of the black LAB are too high hence the black is not as dense. ours is very dense. the only compelling reason is price and full icc profiles free of charge from us we are also authorised epson dealers and engineers

.
If you want Epson oem we can do this too.
