Hi folks,

Having a bit of a Nightmare here.

I have an Epson WF-3010 printer with Dye Sub CISS installed. I also have a custom ICC profile installed which was made specifically for my ink, paper type and printer settings. I have photoshop cs6 set up to use the custom profile when printing, as well as making sure the printer colour management is set to off.

When I first used the ICC profile, it worked perfectly for a mug I designed and printed. But after not using the printer for a week or 2, I am once again having problems with colour print out.

I am trying to print a turquoise colour, and it is printing out a dark navy colour. EDIT: When I sublimate my mug, the turquoise looks better, but the whole image appears darkened and off-tone.

I have cleaned nozzle several times, and used syringes to draw ink through the lines to make sure there's no blockages.

has anyone any ideas what on earth is wrong?

Edit: PROBLEM SOLVED! - THE ISSUE WAS WHEN I ORIGINALLY PRINTED OUT MY COLOUR CHART TO SEND OFF FOR PROFILING, I DIDN'T USE THE ADOBE PRINT UTILITY TO PRINT IT. THEREFORE THE PROFILE WAS MADE BASED ON THE WRONG SHADES/COLOURS.

Firstly thanks for the reply.

As for checking the settings, the following is what I have done thus far.

- Cleaned printing nozzles multiple times.
- Drew the ink through the lines using syringe.
- Printed nozzle check page. (all colours firing fine)
- On the printer's settings, I have made sure there is 'No Colour Adjustment'; the paper type is set to Matte; and the speed is High. (both used in the making of my ICC profile.
- I have deleted and re-installed the custom ICC profile.
- On Photoshop, I have deleted all previous settings back to default (in case I have hit something by accident.)
- On Photoshop's print page, I changed the 'Colour Handling' option to 'Photoshop Manages Colors' and selected my ICC profile from the drop-down menu.

Are there any more settings you think I should run my eye over?

Not sure if its worth pointing out that the Image was originally created on the program named GIMP, and opened in Photoshop.

The recent measure I have tried using is the Gamut Warning while tinkering around with the Hue/Saturation of the image. Although I have corrected the Gamut Warning colours on-screen, the printed image is identically wrong, as before.

My hammer is looking like the tool I will be reaching for next....

Is the original image RGB or CMYK, what does the preview screen look like?....

Just a another thought... printing on the right side of the paper?

i think my workspace and the original image are both in RGB. Yes, correct side of the paper.

Is your screen profiled? If it isn't then your screen colours may be off.

How do I know if my screen is profiled, or if it needs profiled?

After sublimating, although the turquoise is trying to come through, the entire image seems darkened.

I am using a 3d vacuum heat press with temperature at 200oC for a time of 8mins. I tried a mug with reduced time but the image only partially transfers.

Could my temperature be too high?

If you need to ask is your screen profiled then no it isn't. I don't use a vacuum heat press so can't be much use to you with times and temps.

UPDATE: after many emails between my suppliers and I, it seems that I may have created the ICC profile wrong. When I printed out the colour chart, I may have used the standard print command on the file, as opposed to printing via the Adobe Colour Print Utility.

I will send away the new chart, have a new profile made, and if this is the solution to the problem, I will update the threat as Solved.
